Coastal Environments is skilled at implementing public and agency information and participation programs routinely associated with the Environmental Impact Assessment process (e.g., that required by NEPA and CEQA). Public participation is an important factor in the environmental protection process because it informs and educates the public about proposed projects and related impacts, permits identification of environmental issues and project alternatives, facilitates communication of agency policies, and enables communication of results of environmental studies. Information programs frequently include preparing and distributing public notices and newsletters, interviewing agencies, conducting public scoping meeting and workshops, and synthesizing information. CE is also internationally experienced in developing public educational programs involving environmental conservation of wildlife resources. We strive to help create a workable structure and local education so that a program successfully continues on its own. This is accomplished by creating an awareness and understanding of the importance of the program, assisting in identifying practical solutions, implementing selected plans, and creating commitment through local ownership of the program
