Harbor Monitoring Program
for the Egyptian LNG
Alexandria, Egypt

The Egyptian LNG (ELNG) intends to establish a data collection network that would provide data to determine environmental conditions in Abu Qir Bay associated with LNG terminal operations. The ELNG requested services to record information about offshore metocean conditions to provide data for the Company's operational planning (i.e., weather downtime). These data would also provide operations support and would be used to design a maintenance plan for the dredging channel. This maintenance plan would specify where dredging would occur, where spoil would go, the volume of sediment to be removed, and the time period between two successful dredging operations. Coastal Environments prepared a harbor monitoring program for the Egyptian LNG. The program included winds, waves, tides, coastal currents, bathymetry surveys, estimation of sedimentation rates, and a dredging plan design for LNG's navigation channel and turning basin. Our system also included digital infrared cameras and radar systems. All of the data was telemetered to an onshore control station. The data from the cameras and radars are used for security purposes.
